How to set up your fundraising page
New to online fundraising? Never done a charity challenge?
Fundraising with JustGiving is easy. Simply set up your page and your sponsorship money will automatically come to Youth Talk.
Every pound you raise helps to keep our service free to any young person in and around St Albans who desperately needs someone to listen right now.

How to set up your fundraising page:
1. Set up your JustGiving page.
- Select your own challenge, join an event or fundraise in memory of a loved one. Select Youth Talk as your chosen charity.
- People can sponsor you securely in a few clicks
- Gift Aid from eligible taxpayers will be reclaimed for us. This means 25p more per£1 at no extra cost
- Your donations will automatically be sent to Youth Talk
2. Make your page your own.
- Set a target – people love to see progress and have something to aim for. We recommend you ask a generous friend or family member to kick off your page donations. People often follow someone else’s lead!
- Add a photo – pages with photos and videos raise more money
- Tell your story – What, When, Where and WHY are you fundraising for Youth Talk? Why is it important to you?
- Did you know – every £50 will help provide a young person with a counselling session?
- Keep your page updated – you can edit your ‘my story’ section of your fundraising page at any time. People who update their page exceed targets!
3. Make some noise.
- Don’t be shy! Tell your friends, family, colleagues, social groups, even the barista in your local cafe what you’re doing and why. Make sure they spread the word as well.
- Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, LinkedIn and Twitter are your friends. Spread the word on social media and watch the story grow. Remember to tag Youth Talk for extra love
- Write to your local press and spread the word in local groups too
- Keep reminding and updating your networks with your progress. Ask them to share your story and fundraising page with their networks too.
4. Say thank you!!
- Always thank your sponsors for the donations and their efforts. A personal message makes all the difference.
- When you say thank you, your sponsors may mention it to others and inspire them to donate too.
Why JustGiving?
At Youth Talk, we’re registered with JustGiving because it’s a fast, easy way for you to set up an online fundraising page and ask everyone you know to sponsor you online!
There are lots of online fundraising services out there but we prefer and encourage you to use JustGiving.
JustGiving offers a really straightforward and cost efficient service for us;
The best part is that if your sponsors are eligible for and agree to claim Gift Aid, Youth Talk can reclaim the Gift Aid from HMRC on your behalf. As a small team at Youth Talk this is a big help for us, so please encourage your friends and family to tick the Gift Aid box when making a donation.
Your support of Youth Talk is amazing and we hugely appreciate all your efforts, thank you!
Your support means we can be there for our young people. Be part of it.

We need £500k this year to help provide free support to the growing numbers of young people who need us now

Our goal is to increase our service provision by 20% this year

£50 could help provide a young person with a free counselling session to open up about whatever’s on their mind
