The 2022 High Sheriff’s Awards, wow, what an amazing evening! Between the beautiful music performed by students from The Purcell School and the delicious food and refreshments, the lovely High Sheriff, Deputy Lieutenant Lionel Wallace, handed us our award. You could see the surprised look on our faces. This was a huge achievement for us.
The Sheriff’s Awards this year were awarding a fantastic £1,200 grant to charities that support young people and the unique outlook they have and contribute to the community. We want to personally thank Lionel and everyone on the panel, as winning this award means raising more awareness for Youth Talk and taking the next step towards growth within our charity. This grant specifically supports our local counselling service.
We also want to say a huge thank you to our wonderful Youth Panel and all they’ve done to help our charity develop and grow, especially during the demanding and challenging times with the pandemic. The Youth Panel has been a massive asset to us here at Youth Talk, they have helped shape our new brand and visions. They’ve supported us in creating and building our mission, vision, values. More recently contributed to the way our website looks, and of course we can’t forget their involvement in the creation of our animation, with one of the Youth Panel doing the voice over.
Finally, it was a pleasure to meet all the other similar organisations and hear about the amazing impact they too are having across Hertfordshire. We are excited for the journey in front of us and are looking ahead to how we can involve more young people in shaping and developing our local charity – and that’s made possible by all the brilliant people we meet along the way!
