Studying for a Masters in Education, a volunteer, a mother of three, volunteer coordinator and now our Community Fundraiser, Jacqueline is the definition of going above and beyond!
Welcome Jac!
Jac and her family took part in Youth Talk’s Festive Streets Fundraiser in December 2020 and then she ran the Paris Marathon in aid of Youth Talk in October 2021 (pictured right). Jac is well aware of the challenges young people are facing. She recognised the pressures our small charity faced to raise awareness and so wanted to help.
She started volunteering at Youth Talk in February and the more she found out about our local charity, the more she wanted to get involved. Speaking openly about her experience with anxiety as a child and seeing friends who are learning to deal with it as adults, it became very apparent how important it is to have the early intervention that Youth Talk can offer.
Jac said:
“If this service had been around when I was a kid, it would’ve helped so many more people avoid problems in adult life.”
Jac, as an ex-teacher and local school governor, saw the importance of an approachable, fast and accessible service for young people. She just knew she wanted to be involved in one way or another, and help towards making a difference!
In Jac’s free time she has always enjoyed going travelling, with dreams to go to every continent and learns as many languages as she can. She also loves to go to the theatre, read books and take part in a range of sports activities, that both her and her family all get involved in. Over the course of many years Jac has run the Paris (in aid of Youth Talk), London and New York Marathons. As lockdown occurred and life slowed down, Jac’s newer hobbies included walking… and sometimes running with her labrador, Layla!
