Recent fundraising from our community
Thank you to our community!
When you chose to support Youth Talk you are helping us to provide free counselling sessions for our local young people. Through our counselling services, we focus on early intervention, aiming to address mental health issues at their early stages and prevent them from escalating in the future.
Youth Talk has been supporting young people in St Albans, Harpenden and surrounding areas of the St Albans district for over 26 years. Last year alone, we provided more than 3,500 counselling sessions free of charge to young individuals who live, study, or work in our community.
Alternative Barbering Company
“The team at Alternative Barbering Company are very excited to work alongside Youth Talk charity as we can see how valuable their work is to young people in need of some support.
We hope that our events and fundraising ideas will raise some much-needed funds for the charity and we aim to help spread the word about their incredible work amongst our Alternative Barbering Community.”
Very often Barbers find themselves in a unique position of trust. We knew that this would be an extremely important, mutual collaboration to be able to share the information of the service Youth Talk provides to their audience. They’ve hit the ground running with their event plans, kicking off with a blindfolded hair cut for our very own Jim Lewis.
They followed up with an in-store event, offering a full day of services with 50% off and donating all proceeds to Youth Talk. We can’t wait to see how they get on training and fundraising for their next challenge – The Three Peaks.
So far they have raised an INCREDIBLE £1,800 which will provide 36 free counselling sessions! Thank you so much!
St Albans City Youth Community Day
Families, friends, locals and volunteers gathered at St Albans City Football Club, Clarence Park to celebrate community spirit and support Youth Talk.
The event was a true showcase of support for our youth. From the half time game for the kids to the match between St Albans City FC and Chippenham FC there was something for everyone to enjoy. Chicken George donated £360 on the day from their food sales – thank you! It was inspiring to see so many familiar faces come together to make a positive impact on our community.
Listen here to the commentary, Radio Mix 92.6 did a fantastic job of reporting throughout with lots of shout outs for Youth Talk and an interview at Half Time with Rachel Simkin, our Fundraising Manager.
The St Albans City Youth team did a great job organising the event and their dedication and enthusiasm were evident in every aspect of the day, creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere for all attendees. It was fantastic to see young volunteers stepping up and taking pride in giving back to their community.
Of course, the highlight of the day was knowing that the participation directly supported Youth Talk. Every donation made a difference in ensuring that young people in our community have access to the mental health support they deserve.
The day raised over £1,100 which will fund 22 free counselling sessions. Thank you!
Charlie Thomas
Charlie absolutely smashed the Reading Half Marathon, clocking in at 1 hour 46 minutes! This is a new personal best for both 5k and 10k distances. His hard work paid off, raising over £1,600 for Youth Talk. This incredible amount will fund 32 free counselling sessions for young people, just like Charlie.
Reflecting on his journey with Youth Talk, Charlie shared,
“With Youth Talk’s support, I rebuilt my resilience and energy, surpassing levels from before my life took a turn. I achieved A-levels I’m proud of and had the best summer of my life following them. I embarked on an apprenticeship and have cherished every moment since.”
