The Mayor’s Triathlon in St Albans

This is the first time the Mayor and Mayoress will be taking part in the St. Albans Triathlon.

This triathlon is being held to raise the much-needed funds for us here at Youth Talk. This money will help us continue to support our local young people, and provide them with counselling, free of charge.

This event consists of a 5k static cycle, 200m swim and a 3k run around Verulamium Park

Youth Talk are very excited to be the headline charity, best of all, every participant who registers will be helping us to fund counselling sessions for our local young people. Yes, that’s right – all the entry fees come straight to Youth Talk!

All participants are more than welcome to fundraise in aid of Youth Talk, although it is not compulsory.

It is a rewarding challenge which anyone could take on to help raise vital funds.

Councillor Edgar Hill shares, “I’ve not done a triathlon before and have been in training since November. I’m ok with the running and cycling but I’m a very mediocre swimmer. The Mayoress was also very enthusiastic about taking part, is annoyingly a far better swimmer than me and making amazing progress with the running. My daughters (age 18 and 16) are taking part also and yes, I do believe physical exercise is beneficial to youngster’s health both physically and mentally.”

You can enter solo for just £25, or as a group of 3 for £40.

It’s important to note that this triathlon is family friendly, and not a real one, phew! Due to this, it is a nice entry point for someone who is not particularly an active person wanting to take on a great challenge. Anyone over 12 years old can take part, and it will be sure to be a fun filled challenge event!

If you are not particularly keen on doing one of the parts of the triathlon (swimming, for example) then you can have someone else in your team do it!
