Shaping what we do
The Voice of Young People
Our Youth Panel is made up of young people aged 13–25 who help shape the future of Youth Talk.
They bring ideas, challenge our thinking, help us improve what we do and make sure the voices of young people are always at the heart of our work.
From helping design our counselling centre and shaping our communications to supporting research and projects, they play a hugely important role in the life of the charity.
But it’s not all serious meetings and big ideas – the panel is also a fun, welcoming space to connect with others, share experiences, enjoy a slice of pizza, and know that your voice really matters.
Quite simply, they help keep us listening.

From furniture to colours and the overall feel of our counselling space and office, the Youth Panel helped shape a welcoming environment designed with young people in mind.

From website design, content and social media to leaflets and campaign materials, the panel helps make sure our communications are clear and relevant
Making things clearer
From our referral forms to our client agreement, the panel helps shape the documents young people receive so they feel simple, relevant and easy to understand and navigate.
Shaping Important Projects
The panel is involved in various projects and campaigns. They are helping guide our latest research into why boys and young men are less likely to access counselling and how we can break down those barriers.
Helping us ask the right questions
The Youth Panel helps shape our surveys and research questions, most recently supporting our annual Growing Up Survey to ensure it reflects what matters most to young people.
