GROUP THERAPY

Safe spaces, shared stories

At Youth Talk, we know that feeling heard and understood is essential for mental health and emotional wellbeing. Our group therapy sessions offer young people a safe, supportive space to share their feelings and experiences, with the unique benefit of connecting with others who may be facing similar challenges.

Why group therapy?

Group therapy offers a safe, confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings together.

The difference? You’re not alone. You’ll connect with others who understand, helping you build confidence, feel supported, and see things from new perspectives.

Whether you want to talk, listen or both, there’s a place for you here.

The groups we offer:

Get creative group

Where: Youth Talk, St Albans

When: Thursdays 5pm – 6pm during term time

In this confidential group, we combine talking with creative expression through art. You don’t need any art skills to take part, using art as a form of expression can be especially helpful if you find words don’t come easily. This group offers the same supportive and confidential environment as the Talking Group, with the added benefit of exploring emotions in a creative way.

Adults group

Where: Youth Talk, St Albans
When: Saturday’s 10am – 11am

Group counselling is a safe, supportive space to talk, listen and explore what’s really going on beneath the surface.
You don’t need to have the answers, just a willingness to take part even if that starts with listening. Guided by a trained therapist, the real power comes from shared experiences, different perspectives and genuine connection.
Being part of a group helps you realise you’re not alone, build self-awareness, and understand how you relate to others in ways individual therapy can’t always offer.

The group meets weekly to explore whatever feels important – at your pace.

There’s no pressure to share everything straight away. Over time, trust builds, creating space for deeper understanding and change.

Each session is led by the same two experienced Youth Talk counsellors, who guide and support the group while helping you make sense of your experiences and emotions.

Being part of a group can be powerful. Through shared experiences, you’ll gain insight, feel supported, and realise you’re not alone – with members often playing an important role in each other’s growth and recovery.

Small groups

Sessions typically include around six young people of similar ages, creating an intimate and supportive environment.

Weekly sessions

Groups meet at the same time each week and run for one hour.

Confidentiality

Everything shared stays within the group, ensuring a safe space for all members.

Expert guidance

Each group is led by two experienced counsellors who are there to support and guide you. Before joining a group, you’ll have the opportunity to speak with a counsellor over the phone to ask any questions and make sure it’s the right fit for you.

For Creative and Talking Groups most young people attend for at least 12 weeks, though you’re welcome to stay longer if you feel it’s helpful. Building trust and continuity with the group creates a space where everyone feels comfortable to share, listen, and grow. more here.

You're not alone

I felt less anxious being around other young people and even made friendships.

Group therapy helped me find my voice and understand myself better.

It was a relief to know I wasn’t alone in what I was feeling.
