Our supporters have been busy…
Summer is off to a sizzling start and with it came a sequence of supporter events that left us all feeling warm inside as well as out.
We’d like to say a huge thank you to the individuals and businesses that have raised money for Youth Talk this June. Let’s take a look!
1-30 June
Amber Mountain Marketing took on a step challenge to climb the distance of Mt Everest and its descent in aid of Youth Talk. Their award-winning Apprenticeship Programme reflects owner, Emma Ellis passion to champion young people.
Throughout June, their team trekked across country fields, up hills and over an inflatable 5k course to complete a massive 1,201,680 steps – laughing while they did it!
The last week was a little hairy, but the Amber-mountaineers took to the streets to up their steps and smashed their 2k target.
Huge thank you to Amber Mountain – their hard work and dedication will help us provide 40 more free and confidential counselling sessions to local young people. Check out their JustGiving page!

Huge thank you to the St Albans Cathedral for organising such a fantastic Community Showcase. It was a wonderful opportunity for local charities and community groups to come together and celebrate one another’s amazing work.
We were delighted to also speak to several dignitaries – Mayor of St Albans, Anthony Rowlands; the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, Robert Voss; St Albans MP, Daisy Cooper – and the Rev Canon Will Gibbs about our shared focus to make our community a better, stronger and more supportive space for our local young people.
24 June
Nashir from Let’s Talk Travel heard about Youth Talk from the local business networking grouping, BNI Alban Chapter. He was inspired to raise money after hearing a member of our Youth Panel talk about their personal experience with mental health struggles.
Nashir woke at 4.45am the following morning and decided he wanted to commit to a personal challenge and would walk 13km. He immediately set up a JustGiving fundraising page and sent WhatsApp messages to all his friends around the world, business associates and family – asking them to sponsor him as he wanted to do something amazing for a charity close to his heart.
Nashir set an ambitious target of £2,500 and his global community generously and quickly helped him smash it! Raising a whopping £3,500, his challenge will help us provide seventy one-to-one counselling sessions. Special thank you to Nashir and everyone who donated. Check out his JustGiving Page!
1 June
Eve & Adam Beauty Clinic showed us their continued support by celebrating their 20th anniversary at the Hub on Verulam with a raffle and auction in aid of Youth Talk.
From premiership Spurs tickets to weekend getaways, plenty of local restaurants and shops generously donated vouchers and spectacular prizes – there was something for everyone at Eve and Adam’s fabulous party.
Huge thank you to owner, Sally Shepherd, for including Youth Talk in her celebrations, to her many clients who bought raffle tickets, to guests and to local businesses who donated to ensure the fundraising success of a fabulous evening. Together you raised over £3,959, which will fund 4 local young people through their counselling.
11 June
It was that time of year again and with a team of 12 volunteers and 4 competitors, Team Youth Talk took the St Albans Half Marathon by storm.
Community spirit and enthusiasm were running high as volunteers from around St Albans showed up to help make the event run smoothly. And despite early starts and heights of 31°, our team of runners and walkers travelled 13.2 miles in aid of our local young people! Thanks to their hard work and generous donations from supporters, Team Youth Talk raised a total of £1,952 – that’s 39 more counselling sessions. Read the full story!
More to come!
5 August
Liz from Redway HR, her husband and teenage daughter decided to take on a bucket list challenge and make it an extra special week by fundraising in support of their local charity. Over the course of 6 days in early August, they’ll trek 84 miles, ascending 1,132 feet along Hadrian’s Wall!
That’s a lot of hills and steps on consecutive days – hopefully we won’t get a summer heat wave!
The Redway family from Harpenden have set themselves a fundraising target of £1,500 as this will help us to provide 30 counselling sessions to local young people who need our help. But they can’t do it without your support.
Please visit their JustGiving page to find out more and sponsor their challenge today!
We’re proud to be part of a community that is passionate about building a better and more supportive environment for local young people to grow up in.
We’d like to say a massive thank you to the fantastic fundraisers who’ve run, walked or bid for Youth Talk this month.
Thank you
