Young people are struggling
Young people today are facing a crisis in mental health. Nationally, one in five young people aged 8–25 is estimated to have a diagnosable mental health condition, while locally, 33% of students in Hertfordshire report concerns about their mental wellbeing. With limited NHS support and long wait times, many young people endure months without help, leaving them vulnerable to worsening mental health.
How Youth Talk help
Youth Talk bridges this gap, offering free, confidential counselling to young people dealing with depression, anxiety, and other challenges. Our support is crucial—it saves lives and gives young people the tools they need to build resilience, understand themselves, and move forward confidently.

Our goal this Christmas time:
Our Big Give #ChristmasChallenge is to raise £30,000 to help provide 600 free counselling sessions to support 24 young people through the average course of counselling.
Each session costs £50, meaning every donation—no matter the amount will have a profound impact on the lives of our local children.
Meeting our £30,000 target will also help us reduce waiting times, we aim to offer an initial consultation within two to four weeks of referral. Far quicker than the statutory services.
How your gift can help:
- £25 can help support a young person who needs a safe place to talk
- £50 can help provide a free counselling session.
- £1,200 can help a young person through their full journey of counselling.
