After a truly fulfilling week at Youth Talk, I have bundles of new experiences and stories to take away.
From day one, I knew that this was going to be a different kind of project to what I was used to – this was going to be different to sitting in a classroom for 5 hours a day! At Youth Talk, I had the opportunity to go to various different meetings allowing me to experience a different side to the charity, a complex, diligent side.
Attending these meetings was beyond fascinating and gave me the chance to see what happens behind the scenes of charities. I attended marketing meetings in which I got the chance to work with and meet new Youth Talk staff and share my ideas which were always gladly considered and discussed.
Every day of my work experience was equally different and engaging, varying from trips to coffee shops to discuss ideas to designing new fundraising ideas to boost the charity. Not only do I feel hugely grateful for the experience, it was incredible to be able to be given the chance to help the charity that changes the lives of thousands, but I also felt overwhelmingly appreciated.

I enjoyed my time at Youth Talk to such extents that I plan to volunteer and help out at future events.
Overall, as an aspiring doctor, this experience has given me an insight into how mental health is just as important as physical health which I will consider going forward. After the week, I couldn’t wait to share my experience, and how it has taught me about the importance of teamwork and compassion in work, values I will bring forward with me during my future career.
Anna was a great addition to our team for the week – she brought enthusiasm and genuine interest to everything she got involved with! She helped us pull together some pieces of work, and gave an invaluable perspective on the work that we undertake within the fundraising team at Youth Talk. She was lovely to have working with us, and we’re delighted that she enjoyed it so much she wants to volunteer for us!
