‘Mental Health in an Unequal World’
Make time to talk for Youth Talk…
Why not organise a coffee morning or bake sale this October in aid of Youth Talk?
World Mental Health Day is an annual event where there is an opportunity for everyone to raise awareness about the importance of good mental health.
This year’s theme is ‘Mental Health in an Unequal World’.
We need your support to raise vital funds and awareness for our local charity.
Get your friends, school or colleagues together for a cuppa or cake this World Mental Health Day and help raise some dough in support of our local young people.
‘Mental Health in an Unequal World’
Poor mental health has been a focus during the pandemic and these feelings continue to remain for many. Those who struggle the most, are those who already face other challenges in their daily lives. These people may be living with chronic or long-term health conditions, face discrimination, or are careering for others on their own
Our lives and responsibilities can feel unfair at times. At Youth Talk, we see many young people who face daily challenging circumstances which affect their mental health.
We are #StrongerTogether and need to promote an open and accepting environment where individuals can talk about the day-to-day challenges that they face. This will help us reduce feelings of isolation or loneliness, and to achieve a mentally healthy society!
In St Albans we’ve a fantastic community spirit, our local MP, Daisy Cooper reminds us:
“Loneliness is not always the same as being alone. Many people find that they can be in a crowded places and still feel extremely isolated.
That’s why community is so important in helping prevent loneliness – whether that’s outreach programs, social clubs, or services like Youth Talk’s free, confidential counselling. Loneliness really can kill, so it’s great that here in St Albans so many community initiatives exist to combat it.”
