Our supporters have been busy…
Spring is blooming and the Youth Talk banners have been all over St Albans district from rugby pitches to conference venues and church halls.
Let’s revisit some of the amazing events and activities we’ve had throughout March and April involving all ages!
27 March
Huge thank you to St Albans South District Rangers who have been working away to raise money in support of Youth Talk and the young people we help.
They organised an amazing, fun Disco for Rainbows, Brownies, Beaver Scouts and Cub Scouts across St Albans and as a result raised a whopping £1,000 to support our local young people. It was a wonderful event and as a result of their tremendous efforts all of the Ranger Guides were awarded their Fundraiser badge – bravo!
15 April
A huge thank you to St Albans City Football Club for nominating us as charity beneficiary for their City Youth Day game against Welling United. It was great to see the players warming-up in our T-shirts before the game and we must have brought the team luck because they won 3-0!
Thanks to the efforts of the club and our wonderful volunteers, we raised a fantastic £674.20 which will help us continue to provide our local young people a safe space to talk in confidence about their worries.
We’d like to wish them luck in the play-off final on Sunday and look forward to continuing to work with the club next season.
21 April
Every January, the Harpenden & Wheathampstead District Gang Show takes place at the Eric Morecambe Centre. Each year they choose a different charity to support and this year chose to donate £1,000 from their profits to Youth Talk.
A huge thank you to Harpenden Gang Show for this year choosing to support us! Their wonderful work with young people aligns with our own charity’s cause. Their gift will help us provide a local young person with a full course of counselling.
27 April
We were delighted to be one of the benefiting charities from the inaugural Hertfordshire Business Growth Show. Our Fundraising Manager Rachel attended on the day and the event raised a stunning £1000 towards our work.
The event was a valuable opportunity to raise both awareness with hundreds of local businesses and much needed funds through the raffle, auction and a percentage of ticket sales.
29 March
Let’s Dance Academy held wellness classes in aid of Youth Talk. They offered two free Movement Meditation sessions in exchange for optional donations. Thank you for raising both funds and vital awareness for our local charity.
Through donations on our website and an Instagram fundraiser, they raised a total of £110 which will provide two local young people with a free and confidential counselling session.
19 April
Sandringham School organised a charity rugby match where the Sandringham Barbarians, featuring the school’s own headteacher – Alan Gray – played the OA Grizzles at the Old Albanian RFC.
We’re in awe of their success. Smashing their £2K target, they raised a grand total of £2,255 towards Youth Talk’s community appeal to our new home on 64 London Road. Thank you to everyone who played, cheered and donated!
22 April
Youth Talk held its first Dance-a-thon, organised by our Volunteer Co-ordinator – Julia – at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre. Four fabulous local dance teachers led eight 25-minute back-to-back dance sessions.
A massive thank you to everyone who volunteered their time to make the event happen and those who came down to donate and dance! Together, we raised £338 which will help us provide six free and confidential counselling sessions to local young people in need of our help.
29 April
Owner of local beauty clinic Buff and Bare, Kristina, took on the Hitchin10k as part of her continued support for the local young people we support.
But her fundraising wasn’t over! On Saturday 6th May, Kristina led a team of 15 through the gruelling London West Tough Mudder Challenge! Youth Talk would like to say a gigantic thank you to Kristina and everyone involved in her epic challenge! Please show your support by donating to her JustGiving fundraiser.
